Neuro Preservation began as an effort to create low-cost medicines that reduce amyloid and tau in the brain.

We have learned that medications prescribed for established indications are very effective in low doses for patients over the age of 55.

Our pharmacy is currently limited to sleep-related and antidepressant medications. You can read the articles supporting the use of our medications.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows us to provide lower-than-prescribed doses without special approvals. If your doctor wishes to prescribe higher doses, such as for larger patients, they will need to order these special doses from local pharmacies.

The very good news is that our medication, modafinil, is no longer considered addictive or habit-forming. Therefore, any doctor in the United States can order these medications from our headquarters pharmacy.

All selected medications are priced below suggested retail cost. If your insurance company has a drug plan for you, you may qualify for an even lower price, for example through Medicare Part D.

All medications will be mailed directly to your address. For modafinil, the bottle will include warnings not to take it if you have a history of seizures or heart rhythm problems.

Doctors are recommended to perform an EKG at least every six months to monitor for any new heart rhythm changes. These warnings are rare but must be communicated to you and your doctor.

Two main examples include modafinil, typically given as 200 mg twice daily, yet we suggest doses of only 50 mg or 100 mg daily in the morning, strictly as indicated by the FDA.

Currently, the smallest available pill size is 100 mg. However, we have partnered with a pharmacy that holds distribution rights in the United States to produce an indented and scored 100 mg tablet that is easy to break for lower doses.

Another favored medication we distribute is Doxepin 3 mg each night for sleep and better mood. While the usual dose is much higher, we have observed excellent responses with just 3 mg to aid with sleep and mood. To save significant money we can get you a 6 mg Tablet that you can split for the same cost as 3 mg. Currently our supplier bills $65 a month. Therefore, we must billed a minimum of $75 per month of the higher dose 6 mg pills. This would be about $38 per month. The insert for doxepin is on this page as many family are not aware of its use.

All SSRIs have some effect on reducing harmful proteins in the brain. They are generally inexpensive, and your doctor may choose to prescribe their preferred SSRI locally. A SSRI improves sleep, improves anxiety, and was invented as a depression medication.

We emphasize the importance of avoiding potentially habit-forming sleep medications. Therefore, Neuro Preservation does not offer diazepams through our program. Your family physician may order ambien and in some states marijuana derivatives. For all patients, an initial trial of melatonin is always suggested through your main doctor or primary doctor. Melatonin is over-the-counter.

Modafinil 100 mg, taken in the morning at half to one tablet per day, with up to five refills, costs $35 delivered.

Doxepin 3 mg, with 30 tablets, or amitriptyline 50 mg, taken at half to one tablet every night (qHS) for sleep and mood, are priced at $78 and $15 respectively. See Chart in order below.

Our pharmacy has a limited selection of neurological medications. If your doctor finds these medications at a lower price locally, we encourage you to use those options. The low-dose modafinil and Doxepin can be particularly challenging to find, and we are proud to offer the lowest available doses through our scored tablets.
